Saturday was a gorgeous day. We started it with a toddler birthday party (one of M's school friends, whose parents we get along with really well, turned 3!), and ended it with a walk around Highland Park. The lilacs are finally starting to bloom! M enjoyed running around between the lilac bushes... ...and sniffing the… Continue reading lilacs! [137.365]

flowers! [130.365]
We walked over to Highland Park this morning, where the Lilac Festival was just starting (though almost none of the lilacs have bloomed yet - such a late spring!). Despite the lack of lilacs (I know they'll come, eventually), many of the other flowering trees were in bloom, and it kind of looked like a… Continue reading flowers! [130.365]
friday. [115.365]
Flowers on the tree outside the library where I work...which oddly still has no leaves on it. None of the trees around here even have much in the way of buds. Such a depressingly late Spring. I need some green! Come on, nature! Friday was an exhausting but good day. I worked all morning, writing… Continue reading friday. [115.365]
blue skies! sunshine! [114.365]
Today was GORGEOUS! A bit on the chilly side, but it was so sunny, and the sky was so blue, and I just wanted to drink it all in. I needed a sunny day. Today I taught my last lecture of the semester. There's still one more class period left, but my writing students are… Continue reading blue skies! sunshine! [114.365]
daffodils! [112.365]
The daffodils outside M's school finally bloomed! I love daffodils. Finally, a sign of Spring!
what a day. [105.365]
Snow (or rather, "ice pellets") on our steps. It was 80 yesterday. Go home, April, you're drunk, basically. This cold that M gave me is utterly kicking my ass, and I had a busy teaching day. My two normal classes, plus 3 conferences with students, which meant I had to be "on" (and talking, which… Continue reading what a day. [105.365]
shoveling is serious business! [103.365]
M was very serious about her "sand work" today at the playground. It got up to 80 degrees, so EVERYONE in the neighborhood was at the playground today! M and I are both nursing stuffy noses (and I'm on day 3 of a headache that won't quit), but it was still just so great to… Continue reading shoveling is serious business! [103.365]
outside! [91.365]
M and I spent some time outside together after we picked her up from school this evening. It was so nice out! The sun came out late in the day, and it actually got up to 50 degrees! While we were hanging out in the backyard, I spotted a few plants starting to poke through… Continue reading outside! [91.365]
sprouting. [82.365]
We've been sprouting some seeds so that M can see how it works. A black bean and an apple seed. They were both taking off, so we decided to plant them today. We let M decorate some paper cups and filled them with dirt and planted our seeds. Here's hoping they actually grow - M's… Continue reading sprouting. [82.365]
out in the sun! [80.365]
The sun came out this afternoon, and even though it was still cold (barely above freezing), it was simply glorious. We walked to the playground and M had such a blast playing, and then A met up with us there on his walk home from work. I'm so glad we're getting back to the part… Continue reading out in the sun!
