I baked an apple cake on the eve of my defense, to share with my committee as a “thank you”. I gave my advisor the recipe (it’s a family recipe, passed down from my great-grandma Alice). My advisor loves this cake. It’s the one I traditionally bake for A for his birthday (which is in October, during apple-picking season) and I’ve always brought it into lab meeting to share with everyone on the meeting closest to his birthday, and my advisor always takes seconds, and thirds, and sometimes even fourths. It’s very good cake.
